Exercise! Creativity! Keep a Journal!
Exercise generally gets you outdoors, keeps you healthy, clears the mind and builds up endorphins to cope with stressful days. Also get ENOUGH SLEEP. The scientific benefits of sleep are innumerable. More sleep equates to more happiness, better health and improved decision making. Not to mention that it detoxes the brain. In order to feel your best and do your best work, it’s critical to consistently recharge your batteries.
Doing something creative opens your mind and relaxes you as you do something pleasant. You are also learning as you broaden your horizons by being creative. It can be something like writing a poem. It sounds silly, random even, but WRITING A POEM does dramatically reduce stress while simultaneously opening your mind to the many details in the world and opportunities that you may not have otherwise noticed. Start your day by writing a poem—even something as simple as a haiku!
Life is very busy so writing a journal can be a great outlet to help you be present and remember the little moments and sort out the challenges in both your personal and professional life. Your journal can be in bullet-form so you can jot down the things you did, the people you met, how you felt, etc.
These things will keep you balanced and healthy and help you maintain your mental health. When you are a busy person it is imperative that you take care of yourself.
Tip 5. Take Care of Yourself
from the series 10 Tips to Stay Mentally Healthy
Find time for yourself
When you find yourself saying these 3 things to yourself or to others it is time to change:
“I am always on the go, I never seem to have time for myself, it just doesn’t stop.”
"I seem to be always working or there is always something I have to do in taking care of the family. I never have time for what I what I do."
"I never seem to have the time or the energy to do the thing that I really like to do e.g. being in nature or watching the sunset."
People use work as an excuse not to care of themselves. Whereas IT IS important to take care of yourself BECAUSE you do work. Book some time in your diary to spend time for yourself and with your family. Book it in like any other appointment. It is important for your mental health.
Allow 5 or 10 minutes each morning for MEDITATION
A meditation that helps you to visualise the things that you are grateful for allows you to minimise negativity and distractions. Early morning meditations increase self awareness and help put into perspective what really matters. You will find that you tend to be much more positive energetic and happy.
